FAQs

Q: Where are you adopting from?
A: 'Merica! We love international adoption and are excited about future prospects of adopting internationally, but we have a particular burden for children born right here in the U S of A
Q: What 'kind' of adoption are you doing?
A: New born adoption; we will be chosen by a birth mother who is relinquishing her child and we will be there for the birth and, 24 hours after birth, he or she will be officially a Patterson. Additionally, we are using the African-American program through our adoption agency so the 'what kind' question includes that
Q: Isn't it expensive to adopt?
A: Yes BUT we are confident that we are called to adoption, and while a substantial financial undertaking, we are confident in God's provision. We are welcoming assistance so if that is something that interests you, please go to the tab that says 'Support raising'
Q: When will you have your baby home?
A: This is the question that we are wrestling with the most so here's what we do know: once we get all of our Home Study paperwork done (should all be done by 11/15) and processed we will take our seal of approval (it's approval or rejection so keep that in your prayers) and the payment of $7800 to our adoption agency. We hope to have all of that turned in by January 1st, but no later than February 1st; once that is turned in, our agency will create a profile for us (which we are already working on) and begin to introduce us to potential birth moms. We have been told to expect it to take 6-12 months for a birth mother to choose us, so depending on how far along she is in her pregnancy, we could have our baby home sometime between the end of next year and the beginning of 2015. That's a long, messy answer, but it's the reality of where we are at the moment - pray for us as we wait and anticipate our child coming home!
